Las Vegas

Nine years after the London original, Starlight landed in Las Vegas on 14 September 1993 as a shortened 90-minute production and it ran for five years. Taking residence at The Hilton, this was the first musical theatre production to have a permanent base on The Strip.

This production came immediately after the original US tour and kept the filmed races from that production. There was one significant difference with the Las Vegas production. Producers decided to set the show on Christmas Eve. This is referred to when Control’s mother tells him in the opening that his stocking has been hung up and he needs to be asleep ready for the ‘big day tomorrow, Christmas Day.’ The show ran for five years.
